The Kilkenny Union of Parishes

The four churches that comprise our parish union are St. Canice's Cathedral (Kilkenny), St. John's Priory Church (John's Street, Kilkenny), St. Aidan's Church (Kilmanagh), and St. Lachtain's Church (Freshford). There are people of faith worshipping regularly in each of these parish churches.

The church building of each parish is a human response to the majesty, beauty, timelessness, Good News, and intimacy of God. These are places of family heritage and worship where we come together to praise and pray and sing and gather at the Lord’s Table for Holy Communion. In addition to Sunday worship, important life events take place in the parish churches, including Holy Baptism, confirmations, marriages, and funerals. We find transformation and nourishment in worship and enjoy the fellowship of old friends and visiting Christians and spiritual seekers, alike.

The Kilkenny Union of Parishes invites you to worship with us, to learn about the history of this place, and to find spiritual inspiration. Wherever you visit in the parish, expect to be warmly received!

Cathedral Parish

The congregation in St Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny is diverse and varied.  All join together to worship God in a style of worship that is both liturgically and musically rich.  Our youngsters attend Sunday School in the Cathedral’s Chapter House at the 11.30 Service of Holy Communion before re-joining their parents at the end of the service.
